Ranjit Dosanjh was born in Punjab, India and moved to the United States at age ten. Although he grew up in Silicon Valley, a far cry from the bustling streets of Punjab cities, he learned the essentials of his native cuisine while watching his mother prepare traditional dishes from scratch. It was this bond that taught him early on how important quality food was for good and healthy living.
In 2004, Chef Ranjit returned home to Punjab for a 6-month culinary journey that took him deep into the local markets and eateries throughout the province. Here, he advanced his understanding of the best ingredients for the finest Indian dining experience, embracing the art of street food and the secrets the make it so rich in flavor along the way.
Later that same year, his culinary adventure brought him to Antioch, where he opened his own restaurant, India 4 U. Now an integral part of the local community, the Chef and his wife, Brinda, strive to serve and share with each customer the love that goes into the creating of each recipe.
Still, the adventure would continue, this time taking a new exciting twist. In 2007, Ranjit opened Xenia Bistro in Alamo, an Italian bistro blended with various other European cuisines. Some of the dishes to be found here include potato-crusted halibut with creamy lemon piccata sauce and filet mignon with Jack Daniels caramelized onion sauce.
As he delicately and respectfully carries on the legacy of his mother's passion for cooking and commitment to display to the world what real Indian food should teste like, Chef Ranjit would like to invite you to come and enjoy the results for yourself.
